April 24th 1958 - April 10th 2016
Russell David McCorkle was born in Spokane, WA to C. Dennis and Carolyn (St. Marie) McCorkle. He graduated from East Valley high school in 1976, where he was active in football, basketball and track. He also enjoyed playing softball with friends, riding motorcycles, and driving fast cars. His favorite was his 1977 Trans Am. He had a “need for speed” as evidenced by his recent skydiving escapade with his son.
He married Linda Ray in 1984, and they had two children, Sarah and David. Russ loved the out of doors, and shared this love with his family on camping trips, white water rafting, and trips to the ocean. Luckily for his family, he preserved these memories through his love of photography.
He also shared his love of the outdoors while serving as Scout Master of his son’s Boy Scout troop for several years.
Later in life he quickly became known as a jack of all trades, being able to fix anything that came his way, whether it be electrical problems, building, repairing, or programming computers, working on cars, fixing plumbing, flooring, etc. He did all this not only for his family but for his friends and neighbors as well. He preferred to work behind the scenes, and quietly looked for ways to help in any situation.
We will miss his unique sense of humor and loving care, but take comfort in knowing he had a strong faith that sustained him through the difficulties in his life. We know where he is and know we will see him again in Heaven.
Russ is survived by his wife, Linda, children, Sarah and David, half-brother, Doug McCorkle, and his beloved dog, Kasey, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his half brother Clayton.
His memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 19th at 3pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Millwood.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery or Christ Clinic/Christ Kitchen would be appreciated.
Arrangements under the direction of Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home-Pines, Spokane, WA.
