Robert Lee Brown, age 90, was born February 28, 1927 in Brookside, Alabama. He was raised by his Grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. John Chandler, both of whom preceded him in death. Robert accepted Christ at an early age. He was affectionately known to all as “Uncle Bob.” He attended Brookside School in Alabama.
At the age of 16 Robert moved to Vancouver, Washington, to live with his sister, Marie Adams, who also preceded him in death.
Robert moved to Spokane, Washington, where he met Rozell Fletcher and they married on December 15, 1950. Fondly known as Aunt Rose, she preceded Robert in death June of 1990. There is one child of this union, Shirley Ann Hawkins (Jesse).
Robert was employed by The Spokane County Health District until the age of retirement. After retiring he would make several trips to California to spend time with family and attend church. The names of the Churches in California ironically are, New Hope and St. Matthews. Robert was a member of St. Matthews Institutional Baptist Church for over 60 years. It was at St. Matthews where he received his License and became an Ordained Minister. He loved Preaching and singing Gospel Music; Quartette music was his specialty. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Shirley A. Hawkins (Jesse), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, 5100 W Wellesley Avenue, Spokane, Washington, 99205.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00pm at Full Gospel Mission, 1912 E 1st Avenue, Spokane, Washington, 99202, with burial directly following at Riverside Memorial Park, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, Washington, 99224.
