Dolores Mae (Callarman) Koch was born in Spokane, Washington to George and Hazel (Ohlson) Callarman on January 22, 1930. She attended Franklin Elementary School, and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1947. She graduated from Washington State University in 1951 with a B.S. in Home Economics. She began teaching Home Economics at Rosalia High School in 1951, where she met fellow teacher and future husband Orville Koch. They wed on August 9, 1953. Dolores enjoyed gardening, traveling, theater arts, and sewing, and was an accomplished seamstress. She was a member of the Spokane and Washington State Retired Teacher’s Associations, P.E.O., and a member of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church for over 50 years.
Dolores is survived by son Jim (Sheri) Koch of Spokane; daughter Karen Henderson of Spokane; daughter Colleen Koch of Gorham, Maine; six grandchildren: Christina, Alicia, and Andrew Koch, and Sarah, Serenity, and Heather Henderson; sister-in-law Josephine Koch of Spokane; brother-in-law Walter Sauer of Spokane; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, and friends. Her husband, Orville Koch, his parents, her parents, brother Deral Koch, brother Don and sister-in-law Lou Koch, sister Dolores (Koch) Sauer, and grand-daughter Rachel Henderson preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 11:00 am at Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206. Memorials may be sent to Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, or the charity or organization of one’s choice. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd. is in charge of arrangements and a Viewing will be held Monday, June 27, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 6:00pm at the funeral home.
