On July 7th, 2016, Dana peacefully left this world surrounded by her loved ones and in hospice care. She faced her mortality on her own terms and with a courage that astounded all who witnessed it. Dana Jo (Phillips) Johnson was born in Spokane on February 11th, 1958, to David and Patricia Phillips. Dana was the middle child, preceeded by Dean and Denise, twins, and followed by Darcy. She spent her childhood in Spokane with formative summers at Loon and Diamond Lakes. She attended Balboa Grade School, Salk Junior High, and graduated from Shadle Park HIgh School in 1976. Dana was blessed with a son, Jeremy David Brinkman, in 1981, and a daughter, Emilee Ann Brinkman in 1983. She met the love of her life, Brad Johnson in 1984, bringing together two more children of his own, Jill and Brian Johnson. After living for a short period in California, Brad and Dana moved to the family ranch at Fort Spokane on Lake Roosevelt. They farmed, raised animals and were frequently visited by friends and family for adventure, fun and laughter. They moved back to Spokane in the early 90's where Dana operated her own janitorial business. In recent years Dana was a retail sales manager, traveling throughout the Northwest. Dana is best remembered for her sarcastic wit and storytelling. She had a huge creative talent and loved making jewelry, sewing, baking, cooking, gardening, canning and many other endeavours. She was famous for hosting outrageously fun parties where many pumpkins were carved, silly hats were worn and records spun! Dana is preceded in death by her beloved husband Bradley Magnus Johnson, who passed away just a short month before; and her brother Dean Phillips. She is survived by children Jeremy and Emilee Brinkman; Jill Jones (Shane); Brian Johnson (Amey); and many others who called her "Mom"; her father, David Pierce Phillips; her Mother, Patricia Ann Phillips; sisters Denise Hulsizer; and Darcy Phillips; grandchildren Bailee Rose Amaral; Harper Lily Sprague; Gabriel, Kaitlin and Grant Jones; Bremen and Ayla Johnson; numerous aunts and uncles; and her beloved dog, "Puddy". A public viewing will be held at Hazen and Jaeger, 1306 N Monroe St, Spokane, WA on Friday, July 15th, 2016 from 10am to 2pm.
