Wayne A. Clausen (Age 83) – Born April 25, 1927 in Spring Valley, WA and died August 22, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Spokane, WA. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Henry J. and Florence C. Clausen and his sister Violet J. Potter. Wayne lived the life he loved, farming. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard at age 17; training in Alameda, CA and Atlantic City, NJ. He went aboard a troop transport in Boston, MA and made several trips across the Atlantic through the Mediterranean to India, Iraq and Iran with troops and supplies, bringing troops and the wounded back to New York and Boston. Wayne felt great pride and honor in serving his country. Wayne married Mildred Marie Madsen on November 9, 1947. Together they worked and traveled for over 62 years. Wayne is survived by his wife of 62 years Mildred; son Kenneth W. (Ida) Clausen, daughters April L. (Randy) Jordan and Julie M. (Michael) Himmelberger; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; his brother Raymond and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Wayne enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting in Canada especially when Mildred went with him. He also went on a commercial fishing schooner as a crew member out of Prince Rupert for Halibut and Tuna trips. Wayne served on several organizations over the years including WA State Grange Game Committee. With his love of farming comes his commitment to finishing the harvest. To respect his wishes, a memorial services will be held after the harvest, October 2, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fairfield Community Center, Fairfield, WA, a luncheon potluck to follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations made be made to a charity of your choice.
