On December 4th, 2011 Vaughn Ellis Murphy passed away peacefully with his family by his side as he went to be with the Lord. He was born in
Rapid City, South Dakota on December 31st, 1931 to Julian and Vivian Murphy. They moved to Washington State when Vaughn was 5 years old. Vaughn graduated from Rosalia high school in 1949. He married his highschool sweetheart, Winnie McDermid in 1950. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He moved to Spookane where he owned and operated with his good friend and partner, Harold Bratley, B & M Cement for 35 years.
He loved fishing and spending time with his family at their cabin on Coeurd' Alene lake. He also was very active in his church, Dishman Baptist. Vaughn's passion was donating his time and construction abilities in helping with the building of his church to helping in anyway he could with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Julian and mother, Vivian Murphy. His brother, Harry Murphy and his daughter in law, Kathy Murphy. He is survived by his loving wife, Winnie of 61 years. His brother, Lyle Murphy. His daughter Julie (Scott) Van Hees. His sons; Dennis (Mary) Murphy and Casey (Aimee) Murphy. He also had 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Vaughn was loved and admired by his family and friends. He will be truly missed and never forgotten.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, December 9th, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Dishman Baptist Church, 315 N. Argonne Rd., Spokane Valley, WA. with Pastor Gary Bass officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Vaughn's memort to the Dishman Baptist Church.
