Edward F. “Ned” McNamara, of Spokane Valley, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at the age of 69. Ned was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on December 2, 1947. Ned was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan and New England Patriots fan.
Ned is survived by his loving wife, Catherine, of 28 years. In addition to his wife, Ned is lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law Mark (Martha) Conry of Greeley, Colorado; brother-in-law David (Ellen) Conry of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; brother, Brian McNamara (Jeanice) of Galt, California; daughter Laura McNamara of Santa Rosa, California; daughter Kelly (Gabe) Berkowtiz of Pleasant Hill, California; and son Joseph (Leigh) McNamara of Sherman Oaks, California, and 9 grandchildren.
Ned served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a U.S. Air Force air policeman.
Ned had been a sales and marketing executive in the log-home and timber-frame industries for over 25 years. His passion for working with and motivating people, led him to achieving certifications in several areas of health and fitness training and Yoga. He taught yoga and fitness classes for the YMCA, the ACT 2 program of Community Colleges of Spokane, and the Spokane Club.
Ned also served as the Council President for the Spokane County Search and Rescue (SAR) and was active in the swift water and mountain rescue teams. Ned enjoyed anything outdoors, with his love being hiking, rock climbing, skiing, biking, and golfing with his wife.
Ned’s love for people knew no bounds as he opened his heart and home to family and friends alike. Ned’s faith never wavered and he served as Safety Team Coordinator for his church.
A memorial service for Ned will take place on Friday, May 19, 2017, 1:03 p.m. at Valley Real Life Church, 1831 S. Barker Road, Greenacres, WA 99016.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made in memory of Ned to either the Spokane County Search and Rescue (SAR) or the YMCA of the Inland Northwest.
