Roland Alexander Roe, 87, of Sparta, NJ died on June 8, 2014. Roland was born in East Orange, NJ and lived in Butler before moving to Sparta in 1973. He was a 1953 graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Chemical Engineering and was a proud member of the United States Army. Roland worked for many years at Hoffman LaRoche in Nutley, NJ before working as a chemical engineer at Fluerchem Inc., in Middletown, NY. He loved his family, work and New Foundland where he travelled to every year. Roland is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Madeline Promin Roe; devoted father of Roberta Roe-Riedel, Patricia Roe, Roland Roe Jr, and Thomas Roe. Roland is also survived by 8 loving grandchildren and 3 beloved great grandchildren. Friends may call Thursday 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral service will be held at 10am Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
