Maureen Teresa Flannery

Maureen Teresa Flannery, age 84, of Hamburg, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Maureen was born in London, England on March 21, 1940. She moved to Castlebar, Co Mayo, Ireland at age 5. At the age of 17, on January 27, 1958, she came to the Bronx, New York where she met her loving husband, Thomas Joseph Flannery, who died on February 12, 1996. They were married on May 18, 1963.

Maureen was the oldest of 8 children of Patrick McDermott and Mary Conway. Her beloved siblings are Patrica, Philomena, Frances, John, Michael, Angelina, and Eileen.

Maureen had 4 children. Her son Thomas and his wife Michelle, their daughter Amanda and her fiancé Quentin, their son Devin, and their daughter Audrey. Her son Kevin and wife Donna, their son Andrew and his wife Casey and their daughter McKenna, their son Adam and his fiancé Fran, and their son Aidan. Her daughter Joanne and her daughter Julia and fiancé Michael and her daughter Ava. Her Daughter Sharon and husband Ron and their sons Connor and partner Michele, Dermot, and Braden.

She was a member of the Bergen Irish, Our Lady of the Lake, IAANWJ, St Jude’s Seniors and the YMCA.

Maureen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, nana, and great grandmother. She was the heart and soul of our family. She was a strong, caring and giving woman who devoted herself to her Catholic faith, her family, friends and neighbors. Her guidance, wisdom and love will be dearly missed.

A visitation for Maureen will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 078711904. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 21, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, 294 S Sparta Ave, Sparta, NJ 07871. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Maureen requested that you donate to the charity of your choice.
