Sparta, NJ- Gail Margaret (Horan) Tucker was born on October 25, 1944 in New York City. She was the daughter of George P. Horan Sr. and Margaret C. Horan (nee Clarke). Gail graduated from St. Catherine’s Catholic grammar school in Pelham, NY, the Academy of the Resurrection High School in Rye, NY and Elizabeth Seton College, in Yonkers, NY. After briefly working in NYC, Gail was married in May of 1965 to Jeff Tucker, then serving as an Army Officer, and spent six years as an Army wife. Their travels included Germany, Georgia, South Carolina, Massachusetts and both Upstate, NY and Long Island, NY. While on Long Island, Gail was employed as a teacher’s aide at both the grade and high school levels for several years. Her husband and her had three children; Joel, Christine and Jeffrey C. Tucker. During their 50 years of marriage they also had eight grandchildren. In 1991, Gail and her family moved to Sparta, NJ and until her illness was an active member first of St Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, and then Our Lady of the Lake Parish. Gail’s interests, in addition to her family, included travel, reading, service in her parish, maintaining a wide circle of friends and pursuing spiritual interests. Gail was preceded in death by her parents and her older brother, Brian J, Horan. In addition to her husband, and three children, she is survived by her eight grandchildren; Ryan, Molly, Maddie and Allie Tucker of Charleston, SC, Catherine and Michael Slinsky of Raleigh, NC and Collin and Caitlin Tucker of Mechanicville, NY. She is also survived by younger brothers George P. Horan of Auburn, CA and James Horan of Plymouth, CT. Friends and Family are invited to Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street Sparta, Monday 2-4 7-9 pm. A 10 am Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Sparta, NJ.
