Donald Edward Brown

Don is predeceased by his parents, John Harold Brown and Muriel Rose Thompson, his sister, Marian Brown Grenzenbach, his brother, Jack Thompson Brown, and his loving wife, Arlene Rose Lock Brown. He is survived by his children, his son, Douglas Edward Brown (Jean), grandsons, Spencer Farley Brown, Ryan Edward Brown, Alex Paul Brown, his daughter, Karen Elizabeth Wilmot (Ed), grandson, Kai Edward Wilmot, and his daughter, Laura Rose Koran (David), granddaughter, Katlyn Rose Koran and grandson, Aaron David Koran.

Don grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and carried fond memories of his childhood. Don pursued a degree in accounting from Kent State University. He also served in the Army. Don started his career at Coopers and Lybrand where he become a CPA (certified public accountant). Don met his wife Arlene through mutual friends, and they were married on August 5, 1961. After the birth of their three children, Don accepted a job on the east side of Cleveland and moved the family to Solon, Ohio. After moving, he took a leap of faith and started his own accounting business eventually partnering with his nephew, John Brown, to form Brown & Brown CPA. Don was active in the Rotary Club while operating his business in Solon. He loved golfing his whole life as his dad was a scratch golfer and inspired him in the sport. Don and Arlene retired to Southport, North Carolina at St. James Plantation where they both continued to golf. While in retirement Don continued to be active in the accounting field volunteering for AARP to provide accounting services for those who could not afford assistance otherwise. He also became a Master Gardner, learned piano (especially his favorite song Ain’t She Sweet) and became an avid crossword puzzle solver. For 24 years, the couple travelled the world throughout their retirement and enjoyed making memories with their family and friends. In June 2022, they moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to be closer to Karen.

Don was a devoted husband of 61 years, loving father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his jovial spirit, his ability to remain positive in all circumstances, his listening ear, his encouragement, and his unconditional love. We will be forever grateful to the example he set for his children and grandchildren.
