Mr. Thompson was born September 14, 1952 in Greenville, SC. After several moves in the Carolinas, the family settled in Greenville, SC where he graduated from Greenville High School in 1970. He then enlisted in the US Air Force, and served in Vietnam being honorably discharged in 1979. Charlie loved fishing, boating, and spending time at the beach and in the mountains. Charlie was a lifelong mechanic, applying his skills across several related fields, and retired in 2020. He moved to Oak Island, NC in 2017 after having previously lived in Tennessee.
Charlie is survived by wife, Kathy W. Thompson; three adult children, Rochelle, Corinna, and Heather; two adult stepchildren, Amy and Jeff; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, John H. Thompson and wife Susan; a sister, Pennie T. Arnold and husband Jerry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Bob” and Aileene Thompson; and a sister, Sudie "Sue" Roper.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in 2025.
