Southington- Pasquale ?Pat? Anthony Tarantino, 92, 1102 of Pleasant St. passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Southington Care Center. He was the husband of the late Grace (Diguilio) Tarantino.
Born in Waterbury on April 22, 1917, the son of the late Nicholas and Josephine (Bedetti) Tarantino. Pat was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
During the war he was in the Civil Conservation Corps for 35 months.
He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WWII, he was stationed on the USS Wyoming and attended flight school. He flew for 18 months on the Yellow Pearl Planes. He was called back in 1950 during the Korean Conflict where he trained new recruits on the USS Bassett. He was employed by the U.S. Navy where he was stationed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until his retirement in 1978. Pat loved to travel and visited 49 states, numerous islands and countries. He was an avid member of the Southington YMCA?s seniors.
He is survived by two daughters Joanne and husband Andrew Ascione of Southington and Barbara and husband Edgar Belanger of Plantsville; 5 grandchildren Andrew Ascione, Donna Koczera, Christine Gorneault, Steven Belanger and Allison Donnelly and 10 great grandchildren.
Pat?s family would like to thank the Southington Care Center for all the wonderful care given to their father.
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. There are no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
