Nicole Rizzo, aka Nyla Mercado, 39, of Plantsville passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in New Britain. She was born on June 14, 1982 in New Britain, CT, the daughter of Lora Voigt of Southington and Jack Rizzo of Cheshire. Nicole was many things to those who knew her. She was a lover of animals and couldn’t resist the chance to bring a new, furry companion home with her. She had a big heart and loved to offer help to those she thought were down, even when she was down herself. She was resourceful and had a wide range of jobs, from daycare to elder care, bail bonds, hotel clerk, tax preparer and Uber driver, to name a few. She loved crafts and making special projects for those she loved with her Cricut. Those who knew her well, knew that she could spin a tale better than anyone, regardless of the situation. She loved her children, her friends and her family. She tried hard to be a good auntie to her beloved little Ariah, and a good mother to her boys, Sean and Jaden, whom she loved the most.
Her life was a roller coaster ride, and she handled the highs and lows better than those of us who rode it with her. In her last weeks, she was gifted a view of heaven and decided to end her ride there.
We will miss her always, but know that we will see her again once our own rides come to an end. In addition to her parents, Nicole is survived by her two sons, Sean Evans and Jaden Foskey, maternal grandmother, Joanne Voigt, sister Emily MacDonald and her husband Ian and their son Elliott, sister Marissa Rizzo and step-mother Johanna Rizzo. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Nicole was predeceased by her brother, Dominic Rizzo, her maternal grandfather Eduard Voigt, her paternal grandparents Joseph Sr. and Jeannette Rizzo and her cousin Joseph Rizzo. Memorial Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 12th from 1:30pm-4:30pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund for Nicole Rizzo to benefit her two sons, Sean and Jaden at TDBank in Southington, CT.
