Southington- Joseph A. Coppola Sr., 88, of 174 Mill St., passed away on Thursday May 25, 2006 at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband for 64 years of Theresa ( Mazzaccaro) Coppola.
Born in Southington on April 11, 1918, he was the son of the late Angelo and Louise Coppola.
He had been employed by Peck, Stow & Wilcox and also at Ideal Forge Co., retiring in 1981. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church where he was an usher for many years, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Southington Elks Club, Sons of Italy and the Gang Scarpa Shoda. He enjoyed playing cards, going to the beach, and his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his wife he is survived by his loving children, Joanne Musto and her husband Anthony and Joseph Coppola Jr. and his wife Celeste, all of Southington, 5 cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Musto Kann, Toni Musto- Gozzo, Brian Coppola, Jason Coppola and Anthony Musto III, his loving great grandchildren Taylor Kann, Dominic Coppola, Alexandra Kann, Izabella Gozzo and Brendan Coppola. He is also survived by a brother, Alfred Coppola of Hawaii, 3 sisters, Evelyn Cano of Southington, Marie Zimbardi and Edith Pelosi both of Branford also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Albert.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday May 31, at 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church for a mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
