Born in Irvington, NJ on November 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Harry J. and Helen (Grossman) Savage. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Waterbury in 1935 and built his home in Wolcott in 1954, where he remained for the rest of his life.
After his discharge from the Army, he worked for the Connecticut Railway and Lighting Co. for 12 years, and Pratt & Whitney for 21 years, until his retirement in 1987. He was very mechanically inclined and could fix just about anything. Later in life , he took up Chinese bristle brush painting. He was a member of the Wolcott Historical Society, Bell City Rifle Club, Irish Genealogical Society, and the CT Society of Genealogists. He volunteered at the Wolcott Library and enjoyed activities at the Waterbury Senior Center
He is survived by four sons, Thomas Savage of Wolcott, Gary and wife Emily Savage of Waterbury, Steven Savage and Michael Savage both of Wolcott, two grandchildren John M. Savage of VT, Jeana Savage of MA, three great grandchildren Tyler, Todd and Blake.
Besides his wife Shirley, he was predeceased by a son John T. Savage and a grandson Justin Savage.
Funeral will be Friday 9:15 am from DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott to Edgewood Cemetery for Graveside services with military honors at 10 am.
