Jean Yves Rodrigue, 91, of Southington, beloved husband to the late Vivian "Dolly" (Rund) Rodrigue passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain. He was born in Beauceville, Quebec, Canada on September 12, 1933 to the late Oram and Yvette (Auclair) Rodrigue.
Jean moved to the United States as a teen where he completed his schooling and entered the United States Army. Jean served the country as a Military Police officer during the Korean Conflict. He was a hard working man who retired from Philips Technology after many years of employment as a CNC machinist.
Jean was a self-educated Jack of all trades, who loved woodworking and forever remodeling and adding on to his home. Any car or small engine problems, he fixed it himself. He had many hobbies and interests, as a young man he joined a group of men who taught themselves how to trade stocks and be good stewards of their finances, he loved the stock market. He had a great love for flashy cars, music, spending time outdoors and finding different ways to perfect his grilling skills. He enjoyed playing cards while telling stories of his childhood in Canada and his visits to Canada to be with family & friends. He also enjoyed target shooting at the Bell City Rifle Club in Southington. He had a great interest in astrology and was always eager to learn as much as he could regarding it. His family will miss him dearly.
Jean is survived by his two children, daughter Gail Verderame and his son Dean Rodrigue and his wife Lisa. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren, Christopher (Rachel) Rodrigue, Ariana, Alvaro, Alivia, and Ace Rodrigue as well as Carl (Kate) Verderame III, Marlene Verderame and Michael (Elisabeth) Verderame. He also leaves to cherish his memory his 10 great-grandchildren, Cristian, Gabriella, Madalin, Shane, Carson, Camden, Jamison, Carl IV, Crosby, Luca (Expected in February), his brother Marc Rodrigue and his husband Kirk, sister Diane Swingle and special aunt Terry Auclair whom he made so may treasured memories with. He was preceded in death by his sister Darielle and son-in-law Carl Verderame Jr.
The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to Jean's caregiver and friend, Kathy Deptula, for the many years she spent caring for him with love and great respect.
