George was born November 28, 1941 in Summit, NJ to the late George Russell Snyder III and Grace Wilson (Grant) Snyder.
He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran proudly serving his country with the U.S. Army. A man of many talents, he was a mechanic and a specialty welder with a brilliant mind for machinery. Passionate about racing, he built and raced street stock cars and was most proud of his “00”. George grew up in Ancramdale, New York, on a dairy farm where he enjoyed being a farmer. He extended that passion with his love for cats and the country life where he worked the land to create his own Utopia. He was a great storyteller that loved tractors, tools and flannel shirts.
In addition to his wife he leaves his two daughters, Kelly Radcliffe and husband Stephen C. of Becket, MA and Heather DePaolo and husband Alfred, Jr. of Southington; two brothers, Roger (Cyndy) Snyder and David (Suzanne) Snyder both of Manassas, VA; a sister Anne (Tom) Mondelci of Port Charlotte, FL along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant sister Anne Leigh Snyder. George’s family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Southington Care Center and Hartford Healthcare at Home for his tremendous care.
Services for George will be privately held with his family. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society www.berkshirehumane.org.
