Eleanor Agnes (Binkowski) Burdette, 88, of Plantsville, wife of the late Robert Burdette Sr., passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Southington Care Center. Eleanor was born in Southington, on January 14, 1936 to the late Aloysius and Mary (Muszynski) Binkowski.
Eleanor was employed at Bradley Memorial Hospital as a Dietary Aide for most of her life, even retiring and returning to the same position as a volunteer for several more years. She loved to collect cobalt and blue colored glass which lined the shelving of her home. When Eleanor received a greeting card from someone she never let it go. She kept every card given to her over the years as a memory of the love and special times had with family and friends. Eleanor was an avid reader and enjoyed completing various puzzles. She also was fond of being outside in her yard, enjoying the beauty of nature and her surroundings. She will be missed tremendously but never forgotten.
Eleanor is survived by her son & daughter-in-law Gary Burdette (Ellie); her son & daughter-in-law Thomas Burdette (Julie); and her daughter and her fiance Kristine Burdette (Steve); her special niece and sister-in-law Lynn Esposito and Marie Binkowski; her grandchildren Gary Jr, Sheri (Ron), Matthew, Ryan and Piper, her great-grandchildren David, Colin, Cooper, Dylan and Morgan and her great-great grandchildren Charli, and Tony.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her son Robert Burdette Jr.; her siblings Aloysius, Richard, and Robert Binkowski, and Dorothy DeLuco and Elizabeth Fusco.
A visitation for Eleanor will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. A graveside inurnment will then follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Eleanor Burdette Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o TD Bank 121 Main St. Southington, which will be given to a nursing or social work student at a later date. Her family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Southington Care along with all her friends who continued to visit and support her through the challenges of health.
