Born in Waterbury on October 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Anthony and Marion L. (Downey) Murphy. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts. She was a social worker for the State of Connecticut and resided in Waterbury for the majority of her life and was a parishioner of The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
Deborah leaves her daughters Charlotte and her husband Martin Dargan of Wolcott, Rachel and her husband Domenic Rosa of Torrington, her son Paul Hitchcock of Madison and two grandchildren Cassandra and Michele and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Deborah was predeceased by her twin sister Marion “Sheila” Murphy, two brothers James A. Murphy Jr., John F. Murphy and two other sisters Kathleen M. Murphy and Elizabeth A. Lawler and her sister-in-law Marion “Mickey” Murphy.
