Cheryl W. Dutilly, age 76, of Southington, Connecticut went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 14, 2024. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 8, 1948 to the late Thomas and Mary (Kellogg) Morton. Educated as a Registered Nurse she worked for several decades in healthcare. She started her career at the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, migrated to Midstate Medical Center and eventually retired from New Britain General Hospital after over 26 years as a third shift ED nurse. Cheryl was also an elementary school teacher at Central Christian Academy and worked in home care serving children with disabilities. Her loving and caring spirit was evident through her hard work and commitment to her students, patients and family.
Cheryl was a devout Christian. She read her bible and worshiped God daily. She attended church as much as possible and even sung in the church choir. Cheryl also enjoyed playing the piano and singing along with her favorite Christian artists. She and her beloved husband Roland shared an amazing life together over the last 53 years of marriage. They raised a family of 4 energic boys. Never leaving each other’s side, they drove all over the country in their camper, posting up at various campgrounds. Taking in the beauty of the land while enjoying each other’s company was one of Cheryl’s most cherished moments. They traveled the country together visiting all 50 states, living in Arizona for 10 years. Cheryl was a free spirit, spontaneous and always ready for an adventure. She thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. She was a lifeguard and avid swimmer. She had many hobbies which included scrapbooking, hiking, camping and attending local festivals. Her family will cling fondly to the many photos she took throughout the years. Cheryl’s zeal for life and spontaneity will surely be missed by her loving family.
Along with her loving husband Roland, Cheryl is survived by her four children, Randy Dutilly and his wife Meghan, Christopher Dutilly and his wife Sarah, Chad Dutilly, Matthew Dutilly and his wife Bianca. She also leaves to cherish her memory her 9 grandchildren, Megan, Dylan, Kiah, Madison, Jack, Colton, Laila, Jilyse and Julie. Her brother Bart Morton and his wife Elaine, sister Susan Morton and sister Aleine Palmer and her husband John. She was preceded in death by her Brother Teddy Morton and sister Joyce Johnson and her husband Dan.
Her family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington, CT 06489. A funeral service will follow promptly at 7PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
