Brian R. Smith, 44, of Newton, Massachusetts, passed away on March 27th, 2014. He was born in Springfield, MA, on July 16th, 1969. He grew up in Southington, Connecticut, graduating from Southington High School. He had degrees from Mass Bay Community College, Northeastern University, and also attended Harvard University. Brian loved politics, current events, motorcycles, snow-skiing, spending time at the family cottage on Lake Winnipesaukee, and a good cup of coffee. He also loved New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Bruins. He was quite thoughtful and had a quick sense of humor. He had traveled extensively with family, visiting most of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, much of Canada, including the Northwest Territories, the Yukon Territory, and the Maritimes, Europe, the United Kingdom, Bermuda, North Africa and the Far East. He leaves behind his father, John R. Smith (wife Susan), of Oro Valley, AZ, his mother, Marcia R. Lambert, of Southington, his sister, Kristina R. Smith and two nieces Alexis and Ashleigh, all of Sahuarita, AZ, as well as, his brother Justin R. Smith, of Southington, his maternal grandmother Edith J. Payne-Lambert, of Wolfeboro, NH, and his two paternal aunts, Gail E. Smith, of Saco, ME, and Ellene V. Smith, of Abbot, ME. He is also survived by numerous extended family members, from both sides, and many friends. Brian was pre-deceased by both of his paternal grandparents Edwin R. Smith and Edith S. Siegrest-Smith, of Hebron, CT, his maternal grandfather, Frank Lambert, of Wellesley, MA, and his maternal uncle, Mark F. Lambert, of New York City. Calling hours will be on Sunday, April 27th from 3pm-5pm, with a memorial service to follow, at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489. Interment will be in Wolfeboro, NH, at the family’s discretion.
