Phyllis was born in Ramona, Kansas. She was a graduate of McPherson College with a BA in Fine Arts. She moved to Richmond, VA where she lived most of her life, along with her husband and her two sons.
She was an accomplished pianist, and taught many students in her home. She was an active member of Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed gardening, library club, and was a great friend to many in her neighborhood. She resided in Lakewood Manor Retirement Community approximately 11 years, before joining her PA family, just this past January, living in the health care unit at The Community At Rockhill. She was given loving care by the staff and Hospice workers for which we are so grateful. She understood she was with her family in PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Pitt Childs Sr., and her son, Dana P. Childs, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Mark L. Childs (Glenda), and grandchildren, Rachel and Byron Childs. She had a special relationship with her Great Nephew, Kim, his wife, Lucinda Lorei, and their children, who visited her faithfully while she resided in the Richmond area. They were truly family to her in the absence of her PA family.
A Visitation and Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, May 24, 2019 at The Community at Rockhill, 3250 State Road, Sellersville, Pennsylvania. The family will be happy to greet you from 3:00-3:30, and the Celebration of Life service will immediately follow.
