He was a long time resident of Upper Southampton. Harold was born on September 19, 1935 in Philadelphia, to parents, Kurt and Katherine Martin. He graduated from Frankford High School in 1953. Hal perused his passion of baking at the family businesses, Biegel’s Bakery and Martin’s Pastry Shop. He later went on to establish a career as a shipper and receiver, working for Penn Engineering in Danboro, PA, eventually retiring with the company. In addition, Mr. Martin served in the Navy for 6.5 years. He loved the Navy and seeing the world.
Hal was an avid vegetable gardener, deep sea fisher, and an active member of the VE Club for 68 years. He was also a lifelong devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan, and enjoyed bowling and playing pinochle in his free time.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Ernst Lange, sister-in-laws Lucille Martin and Dorothy Quinn, and brother-in-law Alexander Biegel.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, June L. Martin; his son Rob and wife Diane Martin; his daughter Kathy and husband Hal Kaplan; his grandsons Ryan and his wife Ashley Martin, Robert and his wife Alyssa Martin, Andrew Martin, and John Martin; his great grandchildren Ava, Kruz, Casey, Mallory; and his brother Wilfred Martin. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A viewing for Hal will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 starting at 10:00 AM at Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home Inc., 659 Street Road, Southampton, Pennsylvania 18966. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. His burial will occur at 12:15 PM at White Chapel Memorial Park, 140 Street Road, Feasterville-Trevose, PA 19053.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Harold’s name to Southampton Estates Samaritan Fund, 238 Street Road, Southampton, PA 18966.
