He was born on May 24, 1924 in Roslindale, MA, the youngest son of Fredrick and Elsa (Lemmler) Adami and brother to three siblings. He is survived by his long-time beloved companion, Marilyn McClune, his three wonderful children and spouses, Meredith Adami & Thomas Koll of Mercer Island, WA, Kimberly Adami & Jack Bransfield of North Andover, MA and Marc & Leslie Adami of Killington, VT. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren Ryan Adami, Sierra Adami-Koll, Kallista Adami- Koll, Lucas Adami- Bransfield, Marilyn’s daughter, Maggie and grandson, Thomas Titus and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ella Bowering and brothers’ George and Fred.
A Navy veteran, he enlisted in 1942, served on active duty in WWII and, as a lieutenant in the Korean War, continuing in the inactive reserve until 1965.
He graduated from Roslindale High School in 1941, Harvard College, cum laude in 1947, Harvard Law School in 1950, and was admitted to both Massachusetts and Connecticut Bar Associations.
He moved to Portland, CT in 1953 and became counsel to the Real Estate Investment Department of Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1981. In 1983, he was elected Judge of Probate, Portland district, held for two terms and retired in 1991. In 1994, he moved to Dennis, MA.
Active in community affairs in Portland and in Unitarian causes, he served on the Board of Trustees of the Unitarian Society of Hartford, CT and the Retreat, Inc. in Senexet, CT. His many interests included civil liberties, racial justice, literature, travel, art, theater, opera and classical music.
He will be truly missed by family and friends.
Interment will be Quivet Cemetery in East Dennis.
