away June 13, 2014. He was born to Mary and Liberato Longobardi of
New Haven, CT on January 19, 1933. Neil attended schools in New
Haven, upon graduation from high school in 1951 he enlisted in the
United States Air Force where he served 4 years during the Korean
Conflict in 1951-1955 then honorably discharged as Staff Sargent. He
graduated from the University of New Haven in 1965 after 9 years of
night school while also working and raising a family. Neil raised his
family in Cheshire, CT where he worked for many years as a controller
of Ball and Socket Inc. and president of Longobardi Consulting
Services. In 1998 relocated to South Dennis, MA where he enjoyed his
retirement years. After retiring to Cape Cod he worked as a real
estate agent for Kinlin Grover in Yarmouthport MA.
Neil was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His enjoyment
was spending time with his wife/best friend, and his family. He
enjoyed many sports, golfing, dancing and music. He was always very
involved in the community and was very much loved and respected by all
who knew him. While residing in CT he was a member of the Cheshire
Chamber of Commerce, St. Thomas Becket Parish Council, Eucharistic
Minister and Parish Accountant. After relocating to Cape Cod he was
an active member of Dennis Harwich Lions Club and Cape Cod Men's Club.
Neil is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois (Greene)
Longobardi, his sister Concetta Romano and brother-in-law Luciano
Romano of North Haven, CT, his son Stephen Longobardi and wife
Agrippina of Hyannis, MA, four daughters Kathleen Longobardi of South
Dennis, MA, Diane Roemmele and husband Richard of Cheshire, CT, Judith
Gannon of Yarmouthport, MA, and Karen Lane of Yarmouthport, MA. He is
also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, and
many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gennaro
Longobardi and sister-in-law Carol Longobardi.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm today, Monday, June 16, 2014 at Doane,
Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134 in South Dennis. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, June 17, 2014
at St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara Street, South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
