Kate, a truly beautiful soul in every way. I remember the day we met, when we first got to Andover (Phillips Academy). Her bright eyes, huge smile, lovely laugh and generous spirit - all contagious in the most wonderful ways, shined through from our first meeting, and one just couldn't help but want to be her friend. Neither of us knew too many people and Andover, yet (but we would come to know most everyone before the year was out) so we palled around and had so many adventures that first autumn. Ate many meals together, went from function to function and party to party, random get-togethers, and this made that transition to boarding school all the more memorable and meaningful. We talked about our dreams and goals and where we came from and laughed so much. Kate is a forever treasure. I send all my love to you, her family and closest friends and am certain she is healed, at peace, playing with animals and watching over all of her loved ones, and always will - as she always has.

We met Kate when she and Robert moved to Cape Cod, and quickly learned we shared an affinity for reading,  We began a long term exchange of books and would send them to each other with little notes regarding our impressions, then discuss them after they had been read.   Kate made me a fan of Louise Penny, and I kept her abreast of some of the current best sellers, as well as some old favorites.  We enjoyed discussing books and politics, and she joined in neighborhood activities also, having fun at the block parties and meeting other people.
I’ll miss talking with Kate and books we’d each read.  She sent piles of books to us for when we traveled or were ill, and she watched out for our home when we were away.  She always had a sympathetic ear when my Mom began to fail.  I never expected to lose Kate so quickly and we shall miss her very much.
