He graduated from Framingham High School in 1964 and went on to Trade School. He also served in the United States Marine Corps and fought during the Vietnam War.
He was the business owner of Old World Remodeling in the 1970s. He then went on to work for Commercial and Residential moving companies for 40 years.
He lived in Medway for 37 years before retiring in 2017 to Dennis with his wife.
He was a member of the VFW. He was an avid cyclist and took part in 4 of the Pan Mass Challenges at the age of 60+. He enjoyed kayaking, hiking, and gardening. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything.
In addition to being predeceased by his parents, he was also predeceased by his sisters Dolly Femia and Catherine Stanhope. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Susan (Dumican) Mahoney of Dennis, MA, daughters Sarah Mahoney Boettger and husband Scott of Shelby, NC and Katie Mahoney of Yarmouth Port, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jacob, Emma and Anabelle as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of life will be held on February 17, 2024 at 11 AM at The First Congregational Church, 329 Main Street, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675
