She was born March 8, 1920, in Boston, daughter of the late John and Mary Edith (McLaughlin) Myers. She was the beloved wife of the late Aldo DiNitto and after their marriage they moved to West Dennis in 1970 and she became a member of Holy Trinity Church in Dennisport.
Fran was the consummate waitress; she worked at Fantasia Restaurant in Cambridge, Sword & Shield in Harwich Port, and finished her career at the Riverway at the age of 84.
At 93, Fran had more energy than a 20-year-old; her annual cookouts were the highlight of the summer. She was a passionate Red Sox fan and a devoted volunteer for the Dennis Police Department.
Predeceased by a son, John English, she is survived by a daughter, Gerry Clark and her husband Bill of Peterborough, N.H.; grandchildren Dennis, Shawn and Brett Higgins; great-grandchildren Jonathan Clark, Christa, Taylor, Dennis Jr., Dyllin and Donovan Higgins; and great-great-grandchildren Timothy and Anthony Higgins. She was also stepmother to Massimo and his wife Laura DiNitto, Mauricio and his wife Gloria DiNitto of Rome, Italy, step-grandchild Fabio and his wife Ula DiNitto of Amsterdam, and step-great-grandmother of Christian and Daniel DiNitto.
Visiting hours will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis.
