Edward "Ted" Andrew Mooers

Edward Andrew Mooers “Ted”, 76, of South Yarmouth, MA passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was born in Brighton, MA and raised in Weston, the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Connelly) Mooers. He was in the first graduating class of Xavier High School in Concord and completed his bachelor’s degree at Boston College.

At the age 25, Ted moved to California where he worked for several companies in the automotive industry, initially for Chrysler Corporation and retiring from BMW. He moved to Cape Cod in 2016 settling in South Dennis and later moving to South Yarmouth. Ted worked for the Town of Dennis in the Natural Resources and Building Departments and retired this past May. Liz Sullivan, Town Manager shares “Ted was a beloved member of the Building Department and always willing to help anyone. With a quick wit and upbeat attitude, he will be sorely missed, he was an incredible addition to the Building Department. I wish we had more time with him he was a natural and we all benefited from his presence”.

Ted’s son shared how his father enjoyed watching NASCAR races every Sunday, tinkering with his shop car and watching Jack Ryan movies, especially his favorite, Hunt for Red October. His favorite pastime was buying old cars to work on and bring to car shows.

Ted is survived by his loving son Andrew Mooers of Desert Hot Springs, CA, his sisters Constance Ruth Mooers and Marilyn Ann Mooers of South Dennis, MA his brother Michael Richard Mooers of Mountain View, CA his nephew Devin Michael Mooers (his wife Brena) of Palo Alto, CA and his niece Shannon Elizabeth Mooers of Palo Alto, CA.

Visiting hours will take place Friday, December 13th from 12 noon-2 pm at Doane, Beal & Ames, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 followed by a 2 pm service.
