Edward J. Doucette of Dennis, MA, formerly of Manchester, CT, died March 16, 2021 after a 3 year battle with cancer. Ed was born November 5, 1944 in Hartford, the son of the late Edward and Alva (Perodeau) Doucette. He was raised and lived most of his life in Manchester where he was a proud alumnus of the MHS Class of 1963. It was at MHS that he met the love of his life Donna (Gagnon) Doucette. They married in 1967 and spent 54 wonderful and eventful years together.
Edward had a long career in business and sales, most notably as President of Worldtek Travel in Hartford. Ed’s outgoing nature and entrepreneurial spirit led him to many ventures as the consummate sales person and that trait shined through in his successful business career. He loved travel and golf and spending time with his beloved family and friends, and especially with his Golden Retriever Eli, who predeceased him.
In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his daughter Lisa Beltrandi and her husband Damian of Andover, MA and his son Jason Doucette and his wife Heather of Manchester, CT. He was Papa to his cherished grandsons Rocco and Luca Beltrandi, and Edward (“Teddy”) and Charles Doucette. He is also survived by his beloved siblings to whom he was known as “Joe”: brother Courtney Doucette and wife Joan of Bluffton, SC, sister Pamela Scripps and her husband Steve of Moneta, VA, sister Brenda and her partner “Dancing” John Ruzzo of Rocky Hill, CT, and sister Cynthia Veronesi and her husband Christopher of Charlestown, RI; his nieces and nephews, Court Jr., Debbie, Brian, Aaron, Meghan and Nathan; and many Perodeau cousins. In addition, he leaves behind many, many lifelong friends, too numerous to name, whom he loved dearly and treated and regarded as family.
Edward truly loved and adored his family and friends, friends of his family and friends, people he worked with, people he met on the golf course, people he sat next to on a plane or at a basketball game, or really just people in general - if you were lucky enough to meet him, you too could be a friend for life. Visiting hours will be held at Doane Beal and Ames, 729 MA-134 in South Dennis on Sunday, March 21 from 2-4PM. A visitation will also be held on Monday, March 22 at 9:30-10:30AM at Doane Beal and Ames in South Dennis followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Cape 468 Stony Brook in Brewster at 11AM. Burial will follow.
