Charles Crowell

Born in Hyannis, Massachusetts on September 20, 1943, the son of Albert Crowell and Lillian (Megathlin) Crowell. He was the loving husband of Ellen (McGibbon) Crowell (predeceased 1998).

Charles started working in the family business, Albert H. Crowell Construction, a well-known and respected local business at an early age and ran heavy equipment for nearly 30 years before selling the business in 1989. He then worked for the acquiring business, Browning Ferris Industries for nearly 20 years before retiring. He made many life long friends over his work life.

Charles enjoyed working alongside his father and mother for many years. He was a devoted father and spent many hours at his children’s baseball, basketball, and soccer games. He loved playing softball in the men’s senior softball league when he wasn’t cheering for his own children. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish whenever he could. After retiring, he took his dream trip to Alaska with friends where he fished and took in the natural beauty.

He was a devoted son, father, brother, and friend. Charles was the youngest of three children and loved his older sisters Carol Culhane (predeceased) and Marjory Murphy. He is survived by his three adoring children, Scott, Marc, and Melissa Crowell and granddaughter Olivia. He is also survived by several cousins and brother in laws. His kind, gentle, and thoughtful demeanor will be sorely missed by all, especially Roxy, his black labrador retriever and best friend.

Services: Calling Hours will be held at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134 South Dennis, MA 02660 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25. A private burial will follow on Saturday, January 26. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
