Wilfred J. Croteau, 94, of North Dartmouth passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 in Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of the late Violette (Langlois) Croteau, whom he was married to for 65 years.
Born in North Dartmouth, a son of the late Wenceslas and Alice (Daigneault) Croteau. He was a lifelong area resident and a communicant of St. George Parish, Westport. Due to his kind nature and dedication to the community, he touched the lives and hearts of many throughout the decades.
Mr. Croteau attended Dartmouth schools and later went on to join the United States Navy during WW2 where he served in the Pacific theatre. He owned and operated Will & Son’s Auto Salvage with his two sons for 65 years until three weeks ago.
In his spare time, he was an avid trap shooter and he was a member of the High Hill Fox & Coon Club of Dartmouth and the National Rifle Association. A lover of the natural world, he could often be found appreciating wildlife and tending to the many birds that he fed.
He is survived by his children, Elaine B. Perlman and her husband Mark of Fairfield, CT, Wilfred R. Croteau and his wife Pamela of Dartmouth, and Wayne W. Croteau and significant other Lee Souza of Freetown; two grandchildren, Alysha M. Perlman and Aaron M. Perlman; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roland J. Croteau, Raymond J. Croteau, and William G. Croteau.
His funeral will be Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. George Parish, 12 Highland Ave., Westport.
