Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Frank and Maria (Kaczor) Trznadel, Meo was a lifelong resident of the city.
A proud Veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II as a topographical draftsman who assisted in planning many of the invasions in the South Pacific.
Mr. Trznadel had worked as a weaver and loom fixer in several local textile mills. “If the loom is running, don't touch it” was a phrase he used when life posed a challenge.
Mike often reflected on the good ol days and the way it was in his beloved city of New Bedford. In his prime, he was the arm wrestling champion who couldn't be beat. He was a pool shark who taught his kids the game of billiards. Mike was proud of his Polish heritage and made the best pierogis in the world. He proudly built his own home and provided everything he possibly could for his wife and children. Mr. T was still cutting wood in his backyard before he left us.
His family includes a son, Michael F. Trznadel, Jr. and his wife Judy of Kemah, TX; two daughters, Nancy A. Tremblay and her husband Douglas of New Bedford and Bette A. Dunn and her husband Kevin of Mattapoisett; seven grandchildren, Steven, Amy and Sara O’Brien, Christina Bridges, Stephen Hardy, Douglas and Matthew Tremblay; a special great-granddaughter, Maxson Ruth Reiniche; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by seven siblings, John “Ashie” Trznadel, Paul Trznadel, Stanley “Starkie” Trznadel, Albert Kaczor, Anna Perry, Helen Trznadel and Bernice Goodwin.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 10am in the Waring-Sullivan Dartmouth Funeral Home, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday 4-7pm. For online tributes please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com
