Born in Fairhaven, a daughter of the late Lyman and Flora (Duphily) DeMoranville, she had resided in Tiverton from 1950-1969 with her late husband George Mello, and then moved to Dartmouth in 1969. She was a graduate of Dartmouth High School.
Mrs. Sylvia was a talented stitcher who worked for George Lopes Interior Design. In younger years, she and her brother competed in dance competitions. She enjoyed sewing and reading and was a communicant of St. George Church in Westport.
Her family includes a son, George Mello Jr. of Acushnet; a daughter, Christine L. Medeiros and her husband John V. Medeiros III of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edgar, Lester and Robert W. DeMoranville.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 9am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am in St. George Church, 12 Highland Ave., Westport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 2-5pm.
