Dorothy Mello, age 90, of Dartmouth passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 in Charlton Memorial Hospital with her beloved daughter and son in-law at her bedside. She was the wife of the late Amos “Moose” Mello Jr.
Born in Dartmouth, a daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Costa) Aguiar, she was a lifelong resident of the town. She attended Dartmouth High School and later the Lebaron Hairdressing Academy. Dot was employed at the First National Bank and later worked many years as a hair stylist at several salons and at Brandon Woods and Hathaway Manor, a job she truly enjoyed.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Dot loved her family dearly, they were her everything. She loved to watch her favorite Soap Operas, visiting with family and friends, lunch with Karen and Bruce and was an Avid Red Sox fan and of course “Mookie Betts”. Most of all Dot was a Devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily.
She is survived by her children Karen Dionne and her husband Bruce, who was like a son to her of Fairhaven and Gary Mello and his companion Tammy Poirier of Dartmouth; her loving granddaughters, Jenna and Erin Mello and their mother Tammie Doyle who was like a daughter to her; her special nieces, Susan Lopes Rickman of NH and Sharon Jorge of Dartmouth; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Brian Mello and sister of the late Joseph, William, Luiz and David Aguiar and Alice Andrade, Etelvina Sylvia and Olinda Lopes.

Her visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748. Relatives and friends are invited.
