Virginia D. (Pacheco) Mullins, “Ginny,” age 83, of Somerset, passed away Saturday, March 07, 2015 at her residence with her husband by her side. She was the wife of James Mullins to whom she has been married for the past 58 years.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Jose and Alcilia (Medeiros) Pacheco, she had been a lifelong area resident.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1949, Mrs. Mullins was named “Miss Textile of Fall River” in 1950 and was awarded a trip to Hollywood. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked as a proof reader for the Somerset Spectator and for the lunch program at Somerset High School.
She was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church and was a member of their Woman’s Guild. On Saturday mornings she enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son: James P. Mullins and his wife Betty-Ann of Westport, two daughters: Anne E. Bode of Sun Prairie, WI, Patricia A. Rapoza and her husband James of Fort Wayne, IN, one brother: Peter Pacheco of Fall River, six grandchildren: Matthew and Nicholas Bode, Emily and James Rapoza, Allison and Zachary Mullins, and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Maria Rodrigues, Joseph Pacheco and mother-in-law of the late Stephen Bode.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday March 11, 2015 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Clifton Nursing Home Activities Fund, 500 Wilbur Ave., Somerset, MA 02725. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
