Nora was born and raised in Fall River but lived most of her life in Tiverton before retiring to Somerset.
She was a daughter of the late Helena (Skiba) Sliva Szymkowicz, born in Poland and Joseph Sliva, born in Austria. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. LePage, Jr.
Nora was the 10th of 12 children. She had eight brothers, three sisters and several step siblings. In 1943, at the age of 16, Nora went to work at the Torpedo Station in Newport as an assembler to help in the war effort. Her photo, among others, hangs in the museum today. She became a Gold Star Sister when her brother, Eddy, age 22, was killed during WWII while serving in Germany. In her early years, Nora worked in many of the Fall River factories. Later on, she married Joseph and raised five children of their own. She loved to travel and was an amazing cook, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, caring sister, aunt and friend. She worked for Bradlees until her retirement but spent several years volunteering at the Clifton Assisted Living and Rehabilitation campuses in Somerset.
Nora leaves behind her children: Joseph P. LePage, III and his wife Alice, Patricia Geary and her husband Ron, Carolyn Silva and her husband John, Noreen J. Johnson and her husband Steve and Robert LePage; her grandchildren: Robert Wing, Eric Silva, Aron LePage, Benjamin Silva, Rachel LePage, Jeffrey Johnson, Stacy Wilbur, Andrew LePage and the late Jennifer Wing; 11 great grandchildren; along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Her Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, 316 Judson Street, Tiverton followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Nora’s name can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Avenue, Suite 1100, North Bethesda, MD 20814. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County Street, Somerset, MA 02726.
