Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Wilfred and Anita (Larchevesque) Berube, she was a graduate of the former Dominican Academy and the University of Rhode Island. Lorraine was employed as a Social Worker by the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare. Following that, she was a teacher at the Fall River Adult Learning Center and a substitute teacher in Somerset. Lorraine was a fierce advocate for the less fortunate and was a volunteer for many organizations, most recently with the SMILES program. Lorraine was a long time communicant of St. Patrick’s Parish in Somerset.
Mother of Walter G. Palmer Jr. and Elizabeth Palmer Abdow, grandmother of Walter G. Palmer III, Brian E. Palmer, Marissa E. Abdow, and Nicholas A. Abdow, mother in law of Linda Palmer and sister of Alvan Berube and his wife Carole, and Richard Berube and his wife Jean as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine embraced life to the fullest; she lived, laughed and loved with grace and style. Her many passions in life included traveling, the arts, her family and her beloved Bichon Georgie. Although she will be greatly missed she has left those close to her with an amazing legacy of what a life well lived should be. To those who loved her, Lorraine will forever be an example of that which is bright and beautiful in this world.
Her funeral will take place on Monday Nov. 3, 2014 at 9AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT ROSE E. SULLIVAN 866 County St. Somerset, followed by a funeral mass at 10AM in St. Patrick Church 306 South St. Somerset. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 5 to 7PM. Burial will be private.
