Born in Fall River, the only child of John Bettencourt and the late Beverly (Riley) Bettencourt, Connie graduated from Bishop Stang High School as well as Salve Regina University where she was inducted into the athletic hall of fame. She received her Master’s Degree from Boston University and was the Senior Director for the Department of Public Safety at Boston Medical Center for 36 years.
In November of 2021, Connie was elected President of the International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS). In addition to a successful career, Connie was also heavily involved with the mission of FriendshipWorks where she volunteered more than 20 years of her time and served as a past President of the Board of Directors.
An avid golfer, Connie spent most of her spare time on the golf course. A member of the President’s Golf Course in Quincy, she was the President of the Ladies’ Association.
Connie is survived by her aunt and uncle, Thomas and Paula Snizek of Somerset as well as her cousins, Joshua Snizek of Somerset and John and Libby Phelan of Dighton.
Her Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Louis de France Church, 56 Buffinton St., Swansea. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, donations in Connie’s honor may be made to FriendshipWorks, 105 Chauncy St., Boston, MA 02111.
