Vincent “Jimmy” Valenti, 77, of Camillus, passed away Monday August 22nd at Upstate University Hospital. Born in Sicily, he immigrated to Jamestown in 1948 and moved to Syracuse in 1954. He was employed by Allied Chemical in Solvay as an underground piper for 33 years before retiring in 1985. He has since been a self-employed handyman, helping others all around Syracuse. Jimmy was a longtime member of the United Steelworkers Union #12457. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia Church. Jimmy was predeceased by his father James and grandson Dante.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Ann Petrocci, 3 sons; James (Tracey), of Camillus, John (Alison), of Webster and Paul (Sarah), of Westvale, 9 grandchildren; Melissa, Amanda, Christopher (Kailee), John Vincent, Dustin, Olivia, Andrew James, Izabella and Roman, 2 great-grandchildren; Jacob and Alaina, his mother; Carmella (Perfetto) Valenti, of Syracuse, 3 sisters; Josephine (Ralph) Cammaratta, Carmella (Ted) Spadotto, Antoinette Schafer and companion Fred, all of Syracuse, 1 brother; Jack (Donna), of Brewerton,1 sister in law Antoinette (William) Campbell of Solvay, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 am Saturday August 27th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9 am in St. Cecilia Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Friday August 26th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave. Contributions may be made to the Upstate Medical University Foundation (Golisano Children’s Hospital) 750 E.
