Antonio “Tony” S. Cardoso, 89, of Solvay, passed away Friday, October 28th at Francis House surrounded by his family. He was born in Syracuse to the late Nicholas and Lena (Kanasola) Cardoso in 1927 and was a graduate of Solvay High School. Tony served with the US Navy during World War II and with the US Army during the Korean War. He then went to work for Solvay Process for a few years before beginning his career as an inspector for Western Electric, where he was employed for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He was a longtime communicant and usher at St. Cecilia Church and a member of the Solvay-Geddes Veterans Association and Hilltop Club. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, building and flying model airplanes. Tony was predeceased by 2 sisters, Sylvia Shiflet and Marian Skilton.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Rose Marie Greco, daughter; Donna (Thomas) Tyo, of Lakeland, son; Nicholas Cardoso, of Utica, 2 grandchildren; Eric Addabbo, of Syracuse and Elyse Addabbo, of Solvay, sister; Anna Hoffman, of OK and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:45 am Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am in St. Cecilia Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Belle Isle Cemetery, Camillus. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Monday, October 31, 2016 at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Ave., Solvay.
