Thomas Lee Alexander “Tom”, 72, passed away unexpectedly Friday, February 3rd, 2023 in Everett, WA. Tom was born in Flandreau, SD to Betty and Robert Alexander. He was raised in Sioux Falls in the Catholic Faith. In 2001, he and his family relocated to the Seattle, WA area. Tom spent most of his career in the mortgage loan business, where he received numerous awards, recognition, and accolades. Every client who came through his doors, became a friend or an extended family member. He was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, generosity and kindness. As his good friend Randy said, “Tom was as much a Guinness man as a ’95 Hillside Select Shafer man.” He enjoyed traveling, golf, and lively dinners with friends. He recently took up kayaking and it brought him great joy, along with his beloved Goldendoodle Doyle. He was a Seahawks fan through and through (12th Man!) and enjoyed Sunday huddles over text with his family, whether that was frustration at a lost game or cheers at a win. His children were and will continue to be his greatest legacy. His time with his grandkids brought him immense joy and it was not uncommon for the neighborhood kids to develop a friendship with their neighbor, Tom.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marcia Alexander, his children Heather Alexander (Justin Johnson), Jason Sundberg (Jessica Sundberg), Ryan Alexander, Cherise Alexander (Sarah Alexander), and Maxwell Alexander (Claire Alexander). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, his 8 siblings, their spouses, and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was fond of the quote: “Life is a theatre. What you think and feel don’t matter much, you become the sum of what you say and do and you have control over those things. You get to decide.”
Tom always thought, “With ability comes responsibility.” In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give a monetary or time donation to a charity of your choice to honor Tom’s memory and his giving spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 10th at Tapped Public House from 3-5pm (10809 Mukilteo Speedway, Mukilteo, WA 98275). At 5pm, the celebration will continue as the gathering moves into the main public area. Light refreshments will be provided. Feel free to drop in and leave as you wish. Come prepared with laughs, memories, and more as we all share stories of the incredible Tom. We are also planning a Celebration of Life Ceremony in Sioux Falls, SD this Summer.
