Max Albert Donaldson of Snohomish, Washington died on 16 Oct 2020 shortly after his wife, Marty (Margaret Kay), who had died on 22 Sep 2020. Max was 86 (birthday was 5 Sep 1934). He and Marty had no children, but he is survived by his brother Bruce and Cathy and their family.
Max’s parents were Milburn Carlyle Donaldson (1906-1996) and Rowene Arnette Donaldson (1907-1974). He had two brothers, Bruce and Clyde (1936-2018), and a half sister Helen Elizabeth Strecker (1924-2006). He is survived by Bruce and Cathy Donaldson, their two children, and grandson, and Clyde’s wife Becky and her two children and three grandchildren.
Max was born in Montana, went to Whitehall High School and Montana School of Mines for three years before going to the Army Air Corps Flying School in Texas to be trained as a Navigator. He graduated from San Diego State University with a BS degree in electrical engineering.
He worked in San Diego, California for General Dynamics/Astronautics then Gulf General Atomic in a group that analyzed military missile components for survivability in highly radioactive environments. During that time, Max and Marty lived in Encinitas CA close to Leucadia (Encinitas at the time was "the flower capital of the world," growing miles of poinsettias). Marty was a 3rd grade school teacher.
He next worked for Interstate Electronics, Anaheim CA until deciding to move to Seattle and find work at Boeing. He worked on 747’s and later models until he retired. Post-Boeing, Max worked for Jamco-America in Everett – a provider of cabin accessories for Boeing. He designed a big video screen installation for the passenger areas of the late-model planes.
