Vivian, a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and cousin died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, 08/06/2020. She was the second daughter of three girls born to Thomas Adkins and Geneva Byers. Born in San Diego California, Vivian and her family were a military family. She graduated from Zama High School in 1969 while her dad was stationed in Atsugi, Japan. Once back in the United States, she moved to Long Beach, CA and worked in Costa Mesa, CA. In 1974 she packed up her yellow Volkswagen bug and moved to Norman, Ok. She began work at the University of Oklahoma in the College of Business where she met the love of her life, her husband, Mike Struck, who played football for the Oklahoma Sooners. They were happily married on June 19, 1974 for 46 years.
Vivian is survived by her husband, Michael Struck, son Jason Michael Struck, and daughters, Lindsey Struck and Jean Frantom and her loving companion dog, Link. Also, she is survived by her two sisters, Debbie Byers and Pam Hurley. Vivian was one of a kind and an exceptional human being. She was incredibly thoughtful and would do anything for those she loved and she loved her family fiercely. Vivian would always talk about the need to be positive in every situation and backed it up with her actions. She was the easiest person to talk to. She had a genuine, unique laugh, brightening the day of all she came in contact with.
Vivian enjoyed and experienced the beauty of creation in unrestrained and unexpected ways; she loved to travel with her family and friends and enjoyed many trips throughout her life visiting the lake, Gulf Shores, Vegas, and Gatlinburg often. Most of all, Vivian loved, she served and she gave. She was the glue that held her family together and would do anything for. She loved every member of her family and all her friends deeply. No one was better with the children than Vivian. To the kids that came through her doors growing up she was a professional gamer. She loved to spend hours playing Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, and Zelda with anybody who wanted to play and she loved that time spent with them. Vivian was a talented artist and an avid crafter. She was also a phenomenal cook. She loved to cook and often happily slaved over the stove to cook meals that took hours and were gone in thirty seconds. Vivian never met an animal she didn’t love. She was especially fond of dogs and horses. She spoiled all the animals in her life often making them breakfast, treating them to Bruster's, or even making them special holiday meals like gizzards during Thanksgiving.
She was a protector, an angel. Vivian has made and is still making an eternal impression on all who knew her. She truly has left us all a legacy of love and a life that was good. She can breathe now but will be so missed. Heaven has gained another angel!
Her memorial service will be livestreamed on Thursday, August 13 at 11 am at https://www.facebook.com/Eternal-Hills-Funeral-Home-Cremation-Services-135373843179042/.
