Sheryll Sabrina Pichon, 67, was born on October 14, 1955 to the late Mr. Raymond Pichon and the late Mrs. Rose Williams Pichon in Boston, Massachusetts. She departed this earthly life on March 14, 2023.
Educational history: Sheryll Pichon was a graduate of Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, MA. After high school, trained at the Boston Police Academy to become an Officer. Professional history Sheryll entered a progressive program in the 1970’s encouraging people of color and women to join the Boston Police Department (BPD). During her esteemed tenure, she courageously served in many diverse and specialized positions from patrol officer, hostage negotiator, and detective. One of her career’s proudest and highly celebrated achievements was becoming the first black woman promoted to Sergeant in the Boston Police Department. Affectionately called “Sarge”, Sheryll retired after more than 32 years of brave and dedicated service. After retirement, she relocated to her new home in Snellville, GA and enjoyed traveling.
Personal relationships (spouses, children, etc.): Sheryll had many wonderful friends who were like family. Her heart and soul was her beloved daughter, Letia “Tia” Pendleton~Pichon, who, sadly, preceded her death.
Hobbies: Sheryll loved cruises, casinos, and cooking. She was a passionate cinephile with an extensive movie collection. She was known for her beauty, sense of humor, and cracking jokes. She was a great and great storyteller. For those of you who may want to hear her voice again, she was interviewed in 2021 for a podcast named “Finding Color in the Darkness”.
Surviving family members and friends: Ellen Miller (Sister), Brenda Chaney (Sister-in-law). Sheryll has a host of nieces and nephews, many who lovingly called her “Auntie Sheryll”. Several of Sheryll’s friends like Kim, Renee and Ronnie were considered part of her family because of their special bond to Sheryll. Kim Gaddy was more like a little sister to Sheryll. Renee Mitchell who was like her big sister. She will also be sorely missed by her thick~as~thieves Sister Girlfriends in Georgia, “The Queenagers” and so many other friends, family, peers, and former colleagues.
List of predeceased family members: When Sheryll went on to be with our God in Heaven, in our hearts, we felt that she was joyfully greeted by her beautiful daughter, Letia R. Pendleton-Pichon, her parents, the late Raymond Pichon, Rose Williams Pichon, her brothers, Haywood Chaney, Pierre Pichon, and Michael Pichon, sisters-in law, Ann Pichon and Edna Valles~Pichon. Along with Aunt Lettie Jackson and Uncle Jack Jackson, cousin, Michael R. Jackson, best friend, Lucille and more loved ones, ancestors, angels and guides. And, we can’t forget her favorite fur babies: Duchess, Chaz, Peanut, Jake, and Tico.
Memorial Event information A Remembrance Celebration to honor Sheryll will be held this Summer in Boston. Details will be provided by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you kindly make a donation to one of the following in Sheryll’s memory:
