Robert “Bob” T. Hinton
February 24, 1930 – March 6, 2023
Robert “Bob” T. Hinton, 93, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. He is known for being a man of great faith and an extraordinary husband, father and grandfather.
Bob was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Brookes and Marion Hinton. Bob attended the University of GA Atlanta Division. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Hix Green Import Motors for 4 years which fueled his lifelong love of cars. He served as Manager of Broadview Bowl-O-Matic from 1961-1983. He then worked for Jim Maxey’s Pro Shop until 1999 when he retired.
Bob was a longtime member of Embry Hills United Methodist Church and spent many hours with the Craftsmen, who he counted among his dearest friends. He was an avid bowler his entire life starting when he was a teenager. He was most proud of bowling a perfect 300 game. He served as both director and vice-president of the Greater Atlanta Bowling Association and was voted manager of the year twice. Bob enjoyed many hobbies which he shared with his family including horseshoes, stamp collecting, jigsaw puzzles, stained glass and games of all types.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, JoAnn Chronister Hinton; children, Robin (Shaun) O’Rear, Julie King and Tim Hinton; grandchildren Brandon (Erin) O’Rear, Allison O’Rear, Emily (Austin) Lewis, Katie (Ryan) Nikitin, Adam King, Anna King and Joshua King; great-grandchildren, Fiona, Audrey, Iris, and Brooks; sister-in-law, Lazelle Reagan and brother-in-law, Emory Chronister and many nieces and nephews.
