Donald Rae Stark, age 88, of Loganville, Georgia, was called home by his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2023. Don is survived by his loving wife Madelyn, who was his faithful help and companion for 47 1/2 years.
Don was born on Friday the 13th, 1934, to Carl and Bessie Stark of Ohio, and born again into God’s family on August 22, 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia. Don graduated from Girard High School in 1953. He joined the U.S Marine Corps, and served 8 years, three of which were with the Department of State, graduating from Security School and then posted to the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus as security for Classified Material. After salvation, Don attended Baptist University of America, completed a course of study in bus ministry at Atlanta Bible Institute and graduated from Carver Bible Institute with a diploma in Bible Doctrine. Don was always active in church activities, working in the bus ministry for over 15 years, with his wife Madelyn. He also taught Sunday school of all ages, Children’s Church and served as Superintendent in the Junior Department. He loved teaching Sunday school and sharing the nuggets he found in God’s Word with others. Don retired from M.A.R.T.A. after 20 years of service.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League, (At Large) Sons of Confederate Veterans, a member of the Marine Embassy Guard Association, and an avid Civil War Re-enactor with the 44th Georgia Volunteer Infantry. His hobbies were target shooting, reenacting, scuba diving, salt water fishing, and raising foliage plants.
