She was born in Livermore Falls on Feb. 19, 1944, the daughter of Theron E. Nichols and Beverly E. (King) Nichols.
Anita graduated from Livermore Falls High School, the class of 1962.
She married Paul C. Adams on April 27, 1963 in Livermore Falls.
She worked for School District SAD # 54 in food service for several years until moving to Arizona, where she worked for Toltec Elementary School District in food service for 20 years.
Anita was a member of the Christmas Club in Smithfield, a past member of the Kiwanis Club in Arizona, and a past president of the Arizona School Food Service Association.
Anita enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting, knitting, traveling, gambling, shopping of all types, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Anita and Paul moved back to Maine in 2012 after being in Arizona for 20 years.
She is survived by her husband, Paul of 50 years, of Smithfield; three children: Paula Bennett of Smithfield, Randy Adams and his wife Kelly, of Smithfield, Toby Adams and his wife Lauri, of Mercer; one brother: Val Nichols and his wife Betty, of Livermore Falls; two brother-in-laws: Vern MacDonald of Wilton, and Richard Korhonen of Livermore Falls; nine grandchildren: Becki and her husband Jeremy, Melissa and her husband Aaron, Kristen and Brian, Justin and his wife Tammy, Chris and his wife Veronica, Holly, Emily, Chandra and her husband Jose, and Keyra; six great grandchildren, several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
She is predeceased by her Mother and Father; two sisters: Dorothy MacDonald and Gloria Korhonen.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at the Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
