Olaf, who was known as “Olie” to his close friends and family, was born April 14, 1952, in Libertyville, Illinois. Olaf attended Evanston Township High School and after graduation he worked various jobs, including Evanston Golf Course and National Lewis University for 37 years.
Olaf was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed an independent lifestyle as part of the Shore Community Services organization, where he was a resident for 25 years. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Evanston and found joy each and every Sunday when greeting members of the congregation.
Olaf was known for his endearing smile, a penchant to strike up a conversation with anyone he met, and was truly a friend to all. Olaf liked to think he knew everyone in the town of Evanston.
In his senior years, Olaf moved to North Royalton, Ohio and spent his final years making new friends at his retirement home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom & Betty Carlson, and sister Susan Carlson Langerman. He is survived by his other sisters Joan Carlson Miller and Marri Thomas. He leaves behind a loving family of five nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews.
